Victoria India Doctoral Scholarship

Ten prestigious doctoral scholarships are available to international scholars from India to pursue research based at a university in Victoria commencing in 2014.

Victoria India Doctoral Scholarship

These scholarships for research scholars from India will support essential research which contributes to global knowledge, while also helping to build closer partnerships between India and Victoria.

A total of AU$90,000 is awarded to each candidate over the duration of their doctoral studies – and there is a full waiver of tuition fees.

The scholarship round for 2014 is open from 1 June, 2013.

Selection criteria

Applicants for the Victoria India Doctoral Scholarship must demonstrate:

• a very high level of academic excellence
• a well-defined research proposal
• a research proposal that is relevant to the needs and interests of Victoria and India
• leadership capability.

How to apply

1. To be eligible, the applicant must be:

• a citizen of the Republic of India,
• intent to complete the majority of their doctoral work in Victoria,
• not hold a qualification regarded to be equivalent to an Australian research doctorate and
• willing to be an ambassador for the program.

2. The applicant must be accepted into a doctoral program of one of the ten Victorian universities of their choice. For more information, please contact the participating universities (below).

3. To be successful, the applicant must be short listed from the Victorian university of their choice then be considered by the selection committee. Only the successful applicants will be made an offer by the Victorian Government.
